| Can PARR or someone else find a game of mine? | 15 Oct 2006 03:56 GMT | 9 |
It's from the 1990 August Chess Life, Larry Evans's column. Game is Parker-Volovich. I lost on time in a winning position and should have won a miniature. (Doing my chapter on the Pirc).

| b6 and g6 openings | 14 Oct 2006 13:41 GMT | 3 |
I'm looking to change openings to a universal opening for black and was hoping someone who plays these are familiar with these may have some insight. For b6 there looks like there is a good book by Christian Bauer(Play 1..b6).

| Overhauling my opening repertoire | 14 Oct 2006 06:44 GMT | 6 |
I am spotting loopholes in my current opening repertoire. I always open with 1 e4 as White. If Black plays 1...c5, I respond by playing a Grand Prix with 2 Nc3 and 3 f4.

| Rule Change -- move then record -- financially driven | 13 Oct 2006 21:27 GMT | 118 |
Interesting discussion on the USCF web site: http://beta.uschess.org/frontend/news_7_127.php Seems the Federation recently brought the US rules into conformance with FIDE rules, forcing the player to move before recording.

| Kramnik to Take Topalov Home? | 13 Oct 2006 20:07 GMT | 2 |
I quote the official Elista website: Vladimir Kramnik of Russia has won Veselin Topalov of Bulgaria in tie break games with the score 2.5 to 1.5. The total score of the Match is Vladimir Kramnik (8.5), Veselin Topalov (7.5)

| tie-break game #4 | 13 Oct 2006 17:51 GMT | 17 |
Delicate. I can't venture any guesses (like who's better) except that it is rather a Kramnik type of a game. Wlod

| Kramnik wins game 2 | 13 Oct 2006 15:12 GMT | 4 |
His regrouping maneuver Nc2, f3, Be3, Bf2, Ne3 worked out splendidly. If the break is the same length as the last one, the next game will be at 10AM EDT. LT

| Will Topa forfeit the 5th game? | 13 Oct 2006 03:44 GMT | 3 |
Kramnik is ahead in the match: 6:5. If Topa doesn't play the 5th game then that's it, the end of the match. No need for any tie-break.

| Tiebreaks? | 12 Oct 2006 18:34 GMT | 2 |
So ... assuming that the game 5 forfeit stands (I think it has to, even if it was a bad decision. You can't tell a player he's behind with one game to go when you've been telling him the score was something else for the last six games) what are the rules for the tiebreaks?
