I have been looking for a Descriptive to Algebraic notation converter. If anyone knows of one and where to get it a post would be appreciated. I have tried the FAQ but the links there seem to be dead. I found one online version but I would like a stand alone.

If somebody has participated on official FIDE or USChess Tournaments can you please tell me if a time of 30 minutes per player is considered a fair amount of time for a rated game. Also when playing against computer engines like CMX and Fritz is this amount of time enough to

I've started reading a book called Gary Kasparov teaches chess. In the early part of the book he uses a notation I am not familiar with. He uses both ( 6. cd - Nxd5) and (9. bc - Be7), I have an idea due to the context, but wanted to make sure of the meaning of the cd & bc.
