Re:  Attack Defend?31 Oct 2005 20:29 GMT6
I'm not new to chess but I didn't really start playing until this past
spring.  Anyway I find that I play naturally in a defensive manner
meaning that I try to anticipate what my opponent is doing/going to do

All tied up29 Oct 2005 19:09 GMT2
I submit for your amusement one of my own recent games. It's probably not

badly constricted.  IMO 46...Rg8 makes it easy, ...

USCF should partner with chess e-book authors28 Oct 2005 00:29 GMT4
How difficult is this?
The authors can sell through Clickbank, USCF can become a Clickbank
affiliate, market the e-books on their site, and take 50 percent of the sale
from every author.

Centralization??27 Oct 2005 22:11 GMT2
I am trying to understand the concept of centralization. I've always
understood it as "control or occupation of the center," but I have
begun reading Nimzovich lately and today came across this quote* about
Morphy. I am getting confused. Could anyone give me a simple definition
Another Schiller Gaffe27 Oct 2005 19:28 GMT166
In the rgcp thread "Schiller, Westerinen and Myers" I examined
Eric Schiller's excuses for recommending a book that does not exist
as the "best" on the Nimzovich Defense, presenting testimony from
GM Heikki Westerinen and NM Hugh Myers. In my recent correspondence

I have googled and yahoo'd without finding what I seek, so I turn to the
wise sages of usenet.
I do Viking-age re-enactment, and recently bought a set of chess pieces

95% of opening theory books are rubbish!25 Oct 2005 00:21 GMT48
In view of the recent Schiller-slugfest I thought it would be interesting to
engage some truly expert opinion on the value of modern opening books.
Here is an extract that deserves our attention - not because of the pair of
high-calibre commentators who contribute to it - but ...

Could someone point me in the direction on some good reading regarding
Kasparov's split with FIDE in 1993, why there is now seemingly no
