Andorra Open
ChessFire - 21 Jul 2009 17:02 GMT I don't see much American interest in this competition - Kevin Spraggett though listed as Canada now lives in Spain or Portugal [?] // Phil Innes I did visit the site which contains some English language but also a live game viewer with 4 games up at a time:

Taylor Kingston - 28 Jul 2009 15:02 GMT > It either is or it isn't. Alan, you must understand that this is not Spanish, it is Catalan. When, centuries ago, the king of Spain decreed that all chess games must begin 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5, the people of Andorra revolted, insisting on their right to play 1.d4 d5 2.c4 e6 3.g3.

The Catalan would be a third country, if you ask a Catalan.
Can you people manage your wit sufficiently to start a new thread to exercise it and to ask your questions [?], rather than keep changing the original one which is about a current tournament? Otherwise you are in the position of arguing about the past, and your ego's orientation to that, while misapprehending any present. Not a great recommendation to any historic perspective, but then again, there are so few actual chess players now in these newsgroups.
I am not sure, BTW, if Spraggett currently lives in Spain or Portugal or BOTH countries.

This from a guy who's long been in the habit of changing subject headers and introducing irrelevancies whenever a thread displeased him. And if the OP objected, Innes would either act the phony innocent, or insist on his inalienable right to put anything he wanted into any thread. Apparently it's OK if he does it, but not anyone else.
Phil, if hypocrisy were water, we'd have a 6th Great Lake centered down where you live.
