I think that you're either trolling or picking nits.
Whether or not such difference in capitalization is appropriate (and I
agree it probably isn't) to call such a thing "blatant racism" is
absurd.
There's plenty of blatant racism in our society. This isn't it.

Never blame on a conspiracy what you can blame on incompetence.
Probably just a bad copyeditor. Now if you find the word "honky" in
there several times (with or without caps), you might have a case.

"Racialism is a term used to describe racial policy, in what is
generally perceived to be a negative sense, as promoting stratification
and inequality between racial categories (in themselves, often
disputed)."

Ok, from the posts I read, he is not a racist. The wordplay just smacks
of racialism. Maybe I am just paranoid.

You're overreacting. Given that skin colour is totally irrelevant to
chess, the real question is surely why the book feels that it's important
to tell you the colour of anyone's skin, not why they capitalize some
words and not others.

I've spoken with Maurice on the phone for a few hours recently - and the
gent is very far from rascist - in fact he reminds me of another player I
know who has black skin, and who teaches theology - plays chess too, not bad
2000-ish - I was engaging him [5 years ago] on the subject of Jesse
Jackson's political chances and he asked why I was asking him
particularly? - I'm not black! he said, I'm a New Yorker!
Now, the thing of it is, if your struggle to make it encountered
colour-tension, you might well wish to mention the fact, and even be proud
of being the first black GM. It is rascist in a sense, but in this case,
positively so.

The man asked a question. You didn't like his frame of reference so
you got uppity about it. I don't care if you're White or Black or
Yellow or Red -- you assigned an undue importance to your own point of
view -- you got uppity.
It's also possible that the Editor made a decision that the Copyeditor
should capitalize "Black."
And you can spout whatever filth you like without using your real name.
Big man!
Look to Maurice Ashley -- he uses his real name. He wouldn't need your
support.
