WAZ 6

In a drawish position Svidler's King moved to the centre, simply giving
Kramnik a nice and unexpected piece for a useless two pawns. Svidler must
have seen fictitious hens in the year of the rooster.

Oops, I looked again in disbelief at what happened in Kramnik v Svidler and
there seems to be a critical line in that deceptively simple looking
position after exchanging the Queens. May well be a extremely fine
accomplishment of Kramnik depending on analysis. If so, that's certainly
home prep that Svidler unwarily walked into until it was too late.

Kramnik is now at +1, chasing the +2 group (Leko, Adams). Leko drew a
colorless game, Adams is still trying to keep a +2 difference, but not very
convincing sofar.

Anand v Ponomariov is a must replay, Anand in a must win game has Ponomariov
on the ropes right now.

Yup, Adams just drew to remain co-leader at +2. Topalov may well be on his
way to rejoin the co-leaders at +2, because his opponent in a rook endgame
may not be playing the best moves, but anything can happen with such an
asymmetrical pawn structure.

Morozevich plays positional after his previous disastrous results, but the
position against Bruzon looks drawish. Bruzon looks much better in the games
than his rating suggests.

Ouch, Anand may not have played the strongest moves either, Ponomariov
managed to change the character of the game from a dynamic position with a
lot of tactics to a blockading position with little tactics, which is still
in Anand's favor, but not as convincing anymore.

Polgar is in big problems against Grischuk. Polgar has produced miracle
saves in her previous games, but perhaps not in this game.

I see Anand wins...and Topolov as well as Krammnik..The Polgar game looks
interesting..I don't think Morozevich has enough to win...E-Jay

Yes, I had to leave and stop watching. When I came back, Topalov has
rejoined the co-leaders at +2, and Anand has joined the chasers at +1. I
don't see a forced win for Anand in the end position, but the resignation of
Ponomariov is certainly justified.

And wow, Polgar managed to force a drawn R+P v 2N endgame, another miracle
save! I believe this is the third miracle save in a row! Wow!

It makes you a happy zombie watching WAZ, good for your happiness but bad
for just about anything else in life.
