Post subject: "Seattle Chess Foundation has new plan to improve its
finance"
Date: March 15, 2007
To: Sam Sloan

Your Post #33119 on: Tue Mar 06, 2007 9:22 pm, subject: "Seattle Chess
Foundation has new plan to improve its finance" in the USCF Issues
Forum was in violation of the Acceptable Usage Guidelines for the USCF
Forum.

"Keep Your Posts Clean: There may be places where explicit, violent,
obscene or vulgar, graphics, [links to pornographic sites] or language
is appropriate; this US Chess Bulletin Board is not one of them.
Message board posts that contain explicit, obscene or vulgar language
will be removed. Similarly, messages that solicit or offer sexually
explicit material, GIFs, JPEGs or other graphic files will be deleted
without notice."

This is a 2nd level sanction.

Accordingly, you have been suspended from posting to the USCF Forums
for a period of one (1) week.

This sanction was imposed by order of the Forums Oversight Committee.[/

I protest and hereby appeal.

It is the obligation of the Seattle Chess Foundation to clear up their
own website. As the sponsor of the US Championship and numerous
scholastic chess events, they have the obligation to the USCF and to
the players and the children to keep their own website clean.

I assume that their website got the way it is by an errant or possibly
fired employee who took the password with him and put a lot of junk on
the website.

In any case, the Seattle Chess Foundation has the legal means to
remove the junk from their website. Neither I nor anybody else at the
USCF can do anything about this problem. Only they can.

Your announcement does not even mention that it is the Seattle Chess
Foundation website that is the subject of this matter. Therefore,
anybody reading this will not know what is involved here.

A similar case happened a few years ago when porn appeared on a hidden
page of the Walt Disney website. Walt Disney took immediate action,
identifying the employee and firing him and removing the porn. This
became a major news item and nobody was criticized for citing or
referring to the page that contained the porn.

That is what should happen here. You should criticize the Seattle
Chess Foundation, a 501c3 corporation, for allowing porn on their
website, instead of sanctioning me.

Accordingly, I appeal your decision.

Sloan, you're a scumbag. Go away and have fun with your boyfriends.

Sam,

You really need to let this one die, and move on.

The problem is not the Seattle site per se, it was the way that you
announced it to the group with the "whole new funding model" message,
with no mention of pornography, simply an exuberant invitation to click
on the site, with a link.  Voila, pornography.  On everyones page, haha,
you tricked everyone, using a seattle chess foundation problem to click
on a link to pornography.  That trick belongs ENTIRELY to you.

An adult, age appropriate, board member appropriate way to do the same
thing was to instead of couching it in a trick, be straight forward.

"It appears that there is a problem with the Seattle Chess Federation,
who sponsored the US championship and AF4C.  Their page is no linked
into a pornography page.  This is not safe for work to click on, but
there seems to be a problem with that page and the Af4C page which is
domain parked.  Does the USCF need to do something about it."

I am quite sure the second link DOES not get you tossed off the forums.

It will help your cause more, to be more adult about your postings and
your complaints.  This does not put you into a good light.

Quietly apologize for your method, respect the week, and move on to
important stuff, like where are the records, do we own the land, who is
going to pay for the US open and should Susan P and et al be elected.

That USCF reacts the way it did to Sloan while NOT reacting that way to a
few others over whom it has control in the recent past does not put it in a
good light.

If anything it smacks of whistleblower retaliation, something I have a zero
tolerance for.

Would someone PLEASE become Ashlee Schull's new #1 fan?  She deserves

Sloan is a rapist. He's a child molestor. He promotes Pokemon porn to
children. He committed criminal acts against Muslim women.

Why don't you take your whistle, shove it up your a.s, and then blow it?
