Election Results

Thread view:
samsloan - 25 Jul 2007 23:03 GMT
It is after 6:00 PM in New York which means that it is after 5:00 PM
in Crossville. However, no election results have been released.

I am told that several states have been counted yet the results have
not been posted.

This is against the rules.

What is going on?

The longer the delay, the better off you are, Sam. I voted for you.

Good luck

This is against the rules.

What is going on? Perhaps Brian Lafferty will help me sue the USCF.
Goichberg is trying to steal this election from me.

I have heard results over the telephone, but nothing has been posted,
and I have heard that the vote counters closed down and went home over
and hour ago.

It was clearly understood at board meetings that results would be
released on a state-by-state basis, except for states so small with so
few voters that releasing the vote counts would reveal who voted for
whom. Mike Nolan agreed to this and for that reason several motions to
require this were withdrawn.

Obviously, this is not being done and this is disturbing.

With a contentious election such as this one it is especially
important that the rules be followed.

What are the results, Sam. You lost, or you would be bragging. You
came in LAST PLACE.....
samsloan - 26 Jul 2007 02:13 GMT
I have been hearing informal results over the telephone which state
that Polgar is way out in front and I am near the bottom.

However, there results do not necessarily mean much because states
where Polgar is expected to do well such as Texas have been counted,
but states where I believe that I will do well, such as New York, New
Jersey and California, have not been counted yet.

The main issue right now is that Mike Nolan promised us that the
results would be released state by state as the votes are counted.

Around 2,000 votes or nearly half of the total number cast have been
counted and many state votes have been completed and still they are
refusing to release the vote totals.

Seems like a fix.

I for one would vote to fire them all right now unless they release
the vote totals this minute.

Dear Mr. Sloan, it turns out that every single voter
cast his or her vote for you, and no one else; this
has led to a situation wherein the other candidates
are all demanding a recount, and on top of that we
do not know what to do since a committee consisting
of just one man -- even a great man like yourself -- is
not what the organization had in mind when it was
originally constituted.  Help!

Cite, please.[/quote]

This issue was debated extensively during the board meeting on
November 17-18, 2006 in Stamford, Connecticut.

Randy Hough made a motion that would REQUIRE that the vote totals be
released and posted as the count on each state was completed.

Mike Nolan talked us out of it saying that the board should not pass
motions telling the election committee what to do. Nevertheless, he
would ask the election committee to agree to this.

Later Mike Nolan came back and told us that the election committee had
agreed to this. Hearing that, Randy Hough withdrew his motion.

At a subsequent meeting, the question of who would be the chief teller
came up. Pete Tamburro, who had been the chief teller during the 2006
election, had stated in an email that he would not agree to release
the totals until all the votes had been counted. For that reason, Pete
Tamburro was not hired back this year and Frank Camaratta was
appointed instead with the understanding that he would release the
vote totals as the count progressed.

Obviously that is not being done as the count is finished for the
night and many states have been completed.

By the way, the tapes of the November 17-18, 2006 meeting in Stamford
CT still have not been posted online. I understand that the reason is
Bill Hall has never given the tapes to Terry Vibbert. So, it seems
that this is part of the cover-up.

What difference does it make?  Do you really imagine the USCF members
sitting up all night watching USCF election returns on TV as if it
were Bush vs. Gore?  The results will surely be on Polgar's blog
sometime tomorrow and we can all read them there.

Yes, we do. I received many late night calls last night, even after
midnight.

>Dr. Williams, what is your USCF ID number?

This group has a rule that every person must identify himself which
will usually involve either stating his USCF ID number or stating that
he has never been a member of the USCF.

It has been alleged that your name is not really J. Williams and that
your name is actually Dave Dillinger.

If so, that is OK as you can post under a fake name as long as the
members of this group know what your real identity is.

However, I have already had to suspend Rob Mitchell from this group
for refusing to provide his USCF ID number and I must apply the rules
equally.

So Ismail Sloan does require a USCF ID to be a member of his FIDE
group( which almost never discusses FIDE.
Dr WIllaims has gone afoul of I.M. Sloan by making him uncomfortable.

"Dr. J. Williams" does not make me uncomfortable at all. Almost all of
his posts are attacks on Jerry Hanken. His posts do not concern me.

However, Eric Johnson has raised the issue of the identity of "Dr. J.
Williams" and therefore I must ask him about it.

The opera is not over until the fat lady sings.

The fat lady has not sung yet.

New York, New Jersey and California have not been counted yet.

I am so far behind that there is no chance for me to be elected, so
the big issue now is whether Truong will make it.

Truong is now in third place, but Berry is only 80 votes behind. I
predict that Berry will easily pass Truong since Hanken has been
campaigning hard for Berry in California and Goichberg has been
campaigning for Berry in New York.

A more difficult case is Jones who is 250 votes behind Truong. Jones
has chances to pass Truong in California depending on how many votes
are there but this is far from certain.

Why is Truong so important?: Because many pundits including myself
believe that unless Truong is elected Susan will refuse to take office
or else she will quit after only a few months. In that case, the
entire outcome will change.

Does anyone actually listen to Hanken?

Hanken has been elected to the board five times, more than anybody
else, and has only lost one election.

This loss is a big blow to Hanken's prestige.
